This unit introduces students to the core concepts of Management Information Systems (MIS) and business systems planning. Students will explore how these systems are designed, implemented, and managed to support business strategies and improve organisational performance. Through hands-on analysis and investigation, students will examine the role of MIS in optimising business processes and decision-making.
The unit will cover key topics such as systems planning, information architecture, and business system integration. By the end of the unit, students will be able to distinguish and compare various system approaches, applying critical insights to design and improve business systems aligned with strategic goals.
The unit is aligned with the following course learning outcome (CLO):
• CLO2: Apply systems thinking to analyse and design business systems for effective planning and strategy formulation.
