Business Strategy and Analytics covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of data analytics, particularly prescriptive analytics, on where it fits and improves strategic decision-making.
This unit focuses on the applying of the analytics methods to identify optimal solutions for achieving business objective within real-world constraints; analysing business problems using complex analytics methods including Monte-Carlo, discrete, and continuous simulations.
Students learn to apply advanced analytics methods – multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM), mature expert systems (ES) and case-based reasoning. It also explores the emerging analytics techniques based on deep learning and cognitive computing.
The unit is aligned with the following course learning outcome (CLO):
• CLO2: Apply systems thinking to analyse and design business systems for effective planning and strategy formulation.
• CLO3: Critically evaluate and apply advanced techniques in Business Process Reengineering (BPR), software engineering, and enterprise architecture to optimise business operations and decision-making.
