  • ULO1 Evaluate the various sources of business data, both internal and external, and apply SAS tools for effectively collecting and managing data.
  • ULO2 Employ SAS techniques for data cleaning and preprocessing methods to manage large and complex datasets, ensuring data integrity and accuracy for subsequent analysis.
  • ULO3 Utilise SAS procedures to perform descriptive statistical analysis, identify trends, patterns, and key insights that inform decision-making in business environments.

In today’s data-driven world, the proliferation and ubiquity of data present both opportunities and challenges for businesses.

This unit introduces students to the core principles, techniques, and technologies in business analytics, focusing on SAS as the primary tool to enable organisations to harness data and create business value.

The unit covers the entire process from data collection, cleaning, and processing to the analysis of data using descriptive statistics and data visualization techniques, all within the SAS environment.

Students will gain hands-on experience using SAS Studio to analyse and present data, supporting data-driven decision-making in real-world business scenarios.

Additionally, the unit emphasizes the importance of collaboration in business analytics by incorporating group activities and assessments that foster teamwork and communication skills.

The unit is aligned with the following course learning outcome (CLO):

• CLO1: Demonstrate a deep understanding of fundamental concepts and principles of business analytics, including data analysis techniques, modelling, and interpretation.
• CLO4: Demonstrate ethical awareness and understanding of privacy issues in business analytics and apply ethical frameworks to decision-making processes.
